'HOLBOX ISLAND, MEXICO'
2010 TRIP SCHEDULE 6 DAY ADVENTURES
(4 DAYS IN WATER)
JULY 15-20, 2010
JULY 20-25, 2010
Join the editor of Shark Diver Magazine for another EPIC season out to Holbox Island, Mexico to seek out the largest migration of whale sharks in the world!
This is our annual trip out there to snorkel with whale sharks in the plankton rich waters that surround Holbox Island. And each year the adventures just gets wilder, the sharks get bigger, and the experiences are beyond words. There is also an opportunity to swim with manta rays, schools of golden rays, often schooling in the thousands, as well as nurse sharks.
We swam with12 different whale sharks in August 2005, along with countless manta rays.
Around 100 different whale sharks in July 2006. We also sighted over 15 manta rays breaches.
July 2007, we saw 50 different whale sharks from the boat, and swam with 23 different sharks, with one breaching manta, 50 yards from the boat!
July 2008, over 60 sharks in 6 days
July 2009, we saw hundreds of whale sharks, with one day where we encountered over 300 sharks.
Manta rays are common here. A real treat is when they breach, and when you see one breach, keep looking they always breach twice.
Schools of golden rays, often number in the thousands!
We are looking forward to what this season will bring. .
